St. Peter's Fly Shop

At the shop we enjoy special events as much as you do! We find all events bring the fly fishing community together for entertainment as well as education. Whether it is a film tour or a book signing we will bring it to you and keep you posted. Continue to check for upcoming events.

As winter approaches we at the shop are getting ready with a couple of events to keep everyone entertained. Check the list below and join us at the shop for one of our great upcoming events.

Tying Demo with Chris Shrantz

Joining us for our first tying demo of the 2010 season will be Chris Shrantz. Chris worked here at St Peter's for many years before making drift boats with Boulder Boats Works. His boat making skills shows his ability to work with his hands and if you haven't ever seen him tie, you don't want to miss this demo. Chris will be tying a number of different patterns for our local waters including terrestrials and traditional streamers.

Tying Demo with Rick Takahashi
Rick is one of our favorite local tyers and authors in the Ft Collins area. After publishing his new book Modern Midges, Rick is certain to tie some of his favorite small bugs. He will also demonstate some of his most productive Poudre River patterns. We will guarantee that if his sense of humor doesn't entertain alone, his incredible tying skills will keep you on the front of your seat.

Fly Fishing Film Tour at the Lincoln Center

It is the Fly Fishing Film Tour time of year again and Ft Collins has been slotted as one of the first stops of the year. If you haven't ever been to one of the past showings, you don't want to miss the show this time around. In just it's third year, The Fly Fishing Film Tour has become the fishing entertainment event of the year. The Film Tour will be seen in well over 75 cities in 2009 and will showcase some of the best independent outdoor film makers. The goal of the Fly Fishing Film Tour is to energize the industry and inspire film makers to create new cutting edge films to both entertain and educate outdoor enthusiasts.

You can purchase tickets at the shop for $12 or online for $14.

Tying Demo with Chris Karl
Chris is another amazing local tyer that used to guide and work for St Peter's. It has been a couple of years since Chris has tied here at the shop so be ready for some new and inventive patterns. I can remeber when I first started to come to St. Peters back in the late 90's and I was always intrigued by the Chris's custom fly bin. All I can say is his patterns are impresive!

Tying Demo with Mark McMillan
Although Mark has been tying and doing demos for a years, this is Marks first time to do a demo here at St Peter's. Mark is on the Whiting Pro Team and he always ties at the Fly Fishing Shows. He is known for coming up with creative synthetic patterns and making inovative flies with them. Mark will be sure to open your mind to materials that you may not have ever thought of using before.

Tying Demo with John Gierach
Each year John is kind enough to make his way down to Ft Collins to do a tying demo with us and to share some of his marvelous stories. John is more known as an author and angler, but I will tell you that he is also a wonderful fly tier. Join us for what has become one of the best events of the year. After the tying event John is always happy to sign books for anyone who brings them. If you don't have any of Gierach's books or you're looking to pick up one of his many titles, we'll always have a large supply at the shop to choose from. We look forward to seeing everyone for this event.
