Duck Camp: Hybrid Guide Hoodie Review

For Spring 2026, we are extremely excited to bring Duck Camp to Northern Colorado and beyond.  I’ve worn Duck Camp apparel for several years for various hunting applications, and their products have proven to be tough, durable, functional, and with just the right amount of “tech.”  Comfort and utility are key while hunting, and I’m happy to see that transition into their fishing line. This is why we brought Duck Camp into St. Peter’s and we can’t wait to share the brand and the apparel with you.  We worked hard to curate a strong collection of items that will surely be your next favorite pieces to wear on the water and beyond.  Welcome to the camp!

As we introduce the Duck Camp brand to our shop and our customers, I wanted to first give a brief review of my favorite piece in the lineup. From the freestone rivers of Colorado and Wyoming, to the saltwater flats of the Caribbean, the Hybrid Guide Hoodie has been my go-to fishing shirt. Read on below for the full review:

The Best of Both Worlds

I want to highlight a particular piece that I’ve fallen in love with, and follow up with a quick rundown of what’s new from Duck Camp at St. Peter’s Fly Shop.  My favorite piece so far has been the Hybrid Guide Hoodie: a “best of both worlds” type shirt that features the comfort of sunshirt-type sleeves and hoody, as well as the stretch and durability of a lightweight button down fishing shirt (with pockets!).

The sleeves and hoody are form-fitting, yet super stretchy and the fabric is made with “brrr” cooling fibers that feel cool to the skin, very breathable, yet offering 30+ UPF sun protection.  Built in thumb holes turn your sleeves into sungloves when the rays are just too much.

The actual shirt portion of the Hybrid Guide Hoodie is a super lightweight “brrr” fabric, with just enough stretch.  The double chest pockets with zipper closures (no velcro, yea!) are easy to navigate, and add almost no bulk.  Round this out with lo-pro plastic snap buttons down the front, and it’s truly the best of both worlds:  The comfort and ease of a sun hoody, but with pockets for your by-the-minute essentials and easy snap buttons for more ventilation when moving from hole to hole on the river, or while running on a skiff in hot weather.  Other vendors have offered similar products, but no one has quite nailed it like Duck Camp’s Hybrid Guide Hoodie.

What does Duck Camp mean?

We left it pretty open because the world is pretty open and there’s lots to do out there. Fish to catch, birds to hunt, time to kill. We like doing all that stuff, and more, so we built a company centered on it. Dedicated to giving people the gear to get out there, stay out there and make the most of every second.

Everything we make is expertly designed, made to last, and tested by some of the best in the world. It will stand up to the toughest conditions, but also happily sit down beside a fire and drink a few cold ones if that’s more your speed. Because we know that the best part of hunting isn't necessarily the pull of the trigger - it's the gathering.

To put it simply, we make premium outdoor goods so you can "Outdoor Good."
