Current Streamflow: 650 cfs @ Northgate Canyon.

The North Platte runoff season has begun. We are seeing significant water moving throughout the North Park as the river heads into Wyoming. With this increase in flow comes dirtier water, so be sure to have some larger flies that the fish can locate.

Heavy nymph rigs with stoneflies and worms will be the key to finding fish in these higher flows. Depending on the water clarity, fishing sparkle worms in pink and red along with a thin mint, 20 incher or girdle bug is a fantastic rig to find fish early on.

As flows begin to settle in, we should see lots of stoneflies begin to crawl around and hatch. Once this occurs, a hopper dropper rig with a larger stone or small streamer or thin mint hung underneath is a winning choice!
