Encampment River Fishing report

Fall is here! with the colder temperatures, Wyoming Game and Fish has lifted the voluntary closure on the North Platte Watershed. Strong hatches of Trico's, Midges, and Blue Wings have been the name of the game. Keep in mind Browns will begin to start spawning here in the next month or so, so keep an eye out for those Redds and leave these fish alone so they can spawn stress free. With the lower flows, fish should stack up in the fastest (most oxygenated) water they can find. Throwing a small chubby or beetle with a midge or blue wing dropper is a great place to start. With winter approaching, fish will be on the lookout for bigger meals, making streamer fishing a great strategy as well. Stripping a Thin Mint or a small Leech is a great way to turn some bigger fish.
