IMPORTANT: VOLUNTARY FISHING CLOSURE ON ENCAMPMENT RIVER WATERSHED
Anglers are asked to voluntarily quit catch-and-release fishing from the Riverside Bridge to the North Platte River Confluence on the Encampment River from noon until sunrise, when water temperatures are at their highest. Signs explaining the voluntary closure will be posted at major public access points. For more information visit this link! Wyoming Game and Fish Encampment River Closure
The summer heat and low flows have caused water temps to heat up to levels that can be fatal to fish when caught and released, for good practices and strategies for keeping fish during late summer click here. The heat and low flows have also caused a big slow down in terms of bug life so fishing very early in the morning with PMD and caddis patterns while water temps are still cool is the best bet. Pivoting towards other water in the area like the North Platte right now is not a bad idea at all until water cools down and flows jump up.
