Miracle Mile Fishing Report

Current Streamflow : 2479 cfs @ Miracle Mile

Fishing on the Miracle Mile has been productive over the past few weeks.  Water clarity has been great, weather has stayed rather mild, and fish are happy and willing to eat.  We will be seeing some intermittent weather over the next week, but don’t let that stop you from getting out to fish!  Focus on slower deeper runs where the fish don’t have to expend a lot of energy to feed.  For the best success, try setting up a double or triple nymph rig with an attractor pattern like a leech up top down to two midge or baetis nymphs.  These bugs are still on the smaller side, so be sure to have #18’s down to #22’s depending on what the fish are feeding on.  An excellent start would be a Mayer’s Mini Leech, to a #18 Zebra Midge, to a #20 UV Midge.  Start your depth 3-5 feet under the indicator, with approx. 12 in. in between each nymph.  Add split shot as needed.

Most of the us in the shop have been swinging larger streamers and other swing patterns, such as CD’s Lil Swinger, Platte River Spider, and Articulated Goldie.  Spring can be some of the best time to throw larger bugs, as fish are ready to fatten up after the winter season.  If you’re new to Spey casting the Spey School on April 26th will be the perfect opportunity to learn more!  As always, feel free to give us a call or stop by either shop with any questions you may have.  Stay safe and tight lines!
