Hot Weather Tips for Ethical Angling

1. Carry a thermometer and monitor water temperatures throughout the day. Use caution between 65° and 67°, and stop fishing once temperatures reach 68° or higher.

2. Use heavier 4X to 3X tippets and leaders to minimize stress by shortening the fight and landing fish faster.

3. Use a net to reduce handling time and keep fish in oxygen rich water whenever
possible.

4. Keep fish wet, handle them as little as possible, and release them quickly. If
taking a photo, do it in the water.

5. Fish a single, ideally barbless, dry fly to reduce handling time. Target fish
actively feeding on the surface rather than those reluctantly taking subsurface
flies.
