Curated from our staff's years of experience, these are our go-to items to be prepared for fishing July's Dry Fly Hatches.
We recommend starting with a 7.5' leader in 3X or 4X, add the appropriate tippet to your first dry fly, then tie your second dry fly to the hook bend of the first fly with more tippet. Be to treat your dry fly with Loon Aquel or Shimazaki Liquid, and keep the Shimazaki Dry Shake powder on hand to keep your dry fly dry, and afloat.
Pro Tip: Use a big and/or adult version of the fly as your first fly in the rig, then a dry fly emerger, or low floating fly as your second fly. A good, drag free drift is important with mayflies and caddis.
