Miracle Mile Guided Fly Fishing Trips
“The Mile,” located in a remote area south of Alcova, Wyoming, is an advanced stretch of water that soon disappears into a series of reservoirs as the North Platte River flows north towards Casper, Wyoming. The river soon runs out of Alcova Reservoir, and is then referred to as the "Grey Reef" section, one of Wyoming’s most noted trout fisheries.
The dry fly fishing is good when the timing is right, but most of this section should be tackled with nymph rigs. The fish grow to considerable sizes eating tiny midges, baetis, scuds, worms, leeches, and a handful of other tailwater offerings. With a stable tailwater food source like that, these fish will constantly put even the best gear to the test. A fast action 5-7 weight rod is essential for this location with such quality fish, and once spring and fall roll around, a 7 weight rod is a must for streamer fishing. Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout love to chase big streamers on heavy sink tips so you’ll be thankful for a stiffer rod.
Our guide season runs year-round on these sections if Mother Nature allows, for the snow and the blistering cold wind have postponed some big plans to catch big fish. The optimal time for a Grey Reef guide trip or Miracle Mile guide trip is spring and fall, but summer can be just as productive. Take the journey with one of our guides and you can experience the beautiful high plains fisheries that Wyoming is known for.

Guide Trips
All guide trips can be instructional...or we can just go out and help you catch fish. Part school, part fishing, our trips will build your fundamental fly fishing skills, expand your understanding of local entomology, work the kinks out of your presentation, or help you get rid of that annoying tailing loop. Let us know what we can do to maximize your enjoyment on stream and we'll do whatever we can to accommodate you.
What's Included
Our guide trips include everything you'll need for your day on stream. We are pleased to provide our clients with the fine rods from the Sage Manufacturing and Scott Fly Rod Company. Our reels and lines come from leading manufacturers in the industry such as Waterworks Lamson, Hatch Reels and Ross Reels, Scientific Anglers, Rio Products. Wading equipment can be provided upon request. Our full day float and wade trips include lunch and beverages on stream. Drinks and snacks are provided on half day trips. Do you have dietary restrictions or other special needs? Please let us know and we're happy to accommodate you.
What to Bring?
