St. Peter’s Signature Row School
This two-day course is designed to teach you the fundamentals of rowing.
Whether you want to guide others while fishing, improve your river safety skills, or simply learn the basic rowing strokes, this class will be tailored to each student's needs

Day 1
This six-hour session (8:00 AM – 2:00 PM) takes place at Horsetooth Reservoir, where you'll learn the basics— including rowing strokes, boat handling, and hands-on time behind the oars in a drift boat on flatwater.

-Dial in oar strokes

-Work through safety protocol

-Get comfortable with communication on the boat

-Work on boat positioning

Day 2
This six-hour session (8:00 AM – 3:00 PM) takes place on the Poudre River and focuses on rowing a raft through smaller, technical whitewater while building the skills needed to navigate it confidently. We'll complete two runs through the lower canyon, from the Filter Plant to Picnic Rock.

-Learn the technical facets to staying in a line

-Reading whitewater

-Learning more advanced oar strokes 

-Safety! 


By the end of the course, you’ll have hands-on experience rowing both a hard boat and a soft boat in a variety of water conditions—giving you a solid foundation to build your skills on.

-Sunday, May 11th from 8am-2pm @ Horestooth

- Monday, May 12th from 8am-3pm @ Poudre River

Cost: $600 per student

All gear, rowing equipment, and items needed for the class are provided.
Student need to purchase a Colorado fishing license

Rowing Instructor

Josh Henriksen


Josh is one of St. Peter's lead float guides, spending around 150 days a year on the water, rowing folks into fish. He brings a dynamic background in river skills, starting as a whitewater kayaking expert before transitioning into an oar specialist. Josh takes safety on the water seriously and holds Level 4 Swiftwater Rescue certification.

(Please note: Students younger than 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult who is also enrolled in the class)

-A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot.

-All cancellations and/or reschedules within 14 days of class are subject to loss of the 50% deposit.
