Laramie River Fishing Report

Laramie River Report

Latest Update: 9/5/2024

Current Streamflow : 20 cfs @ Glendevey

The Laramie river is very low this time of year. Temperatures up this high in elevation are getting pretty chilly at night which helps keep that water cool. Fishing may not be as good as it was back in June but if you find yourself in the area, take a peek and see what the water looks like. Fish through the shallow runs with flies like the Elk hair Caddis, Missing Link, Extended Body Pale Morning Duns, Film Critic and Pale Morning Duns. You also have a pretty good chance with the Chew Toy, Standard Stimulators, PMX's, and Small Chubby Chernobyls. There are some deeper runs and pools that you may want to have some nymphs for but you won't need anything too fancy. Pheasant Tail Nymphs and Hare's Ears are perfect at looking like little mayflies and the UV Czech Nymph is the perfect blend of flash and realism as a caddis larvae. You can even represent the signature green color of a caddis with a Chartreuse Copper John. If the fishing is tough, we recommend checking out some of the other fisheries in the area like Chambers Lake, Rawah Lakes, Joe Wright Reservoir, Laramie Plains Lakes and even the upper stretches of the Poudre River. We look forward to getting back on the Laramie in the summer of 2025. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
